Since the iPhone release
in June '07, we have received many requests for a version
of Métro for the
Apple phone. And with the following release of the iPod
Touch and, later, the iPhone 3G, the pressure has been
increasing...
While initially closed to third-party software, Apple
later changed its mind and decided to deliver an SDK
(Software Developer Kit), letting anyone create
applications for its platform.
After hesitating for a while (see here),
we have announced our intention to develop an iPhone
version of Métro , which
should arrive on the AppStore in early 2009.
In the meantime, we suggest that iPhone and iPod Touch
owners use i-Métro , our online
version:

For this, you have 3 different options (they have all
been tested on an iPod Touch):
- The "classic" i-Métro:
feature-complete (including mapping in some cities) but it
is not optimized at all for small screens. Just point the
iPhone browser to
http://imetro.nanika.net.
- The "mobile" i-Métro:
better adapted to small screens but it has less features
than the other versions. Just point the iPhone browser to
http://i-metro.mobi.
- The recommended Netvibes Métro
widget (illustration above): feature-rich and optimized
for the iPhone with the dedicated Netvibes portal page.
To use the widget, you must setup a free account on Netvibes,
add i-Métro to your personalized home
page and point your iPhone browser to the iPhone version
of Netvibes
